Humanity, having faced extinction at the end of the 20th century, would not have entered the new millennium if it weren't for them. In 1969, during their youth, they created a symbol. È la fatica più recente di Naoki Urasawa, uno degli autori più famosi del panorama nipponico. Protagonista principale della storia è Kenji Endo, che amministra un piccolo spaccio aperto 24 ore. La sua è una vita da single è scombussolata alla notizia della morte di un compagno d’infanzia, Donkey, che sembra essersi suicidato gettandosi dal tetto della scuola dove insegnava. Una morte sospetta, che spinge Kenji a cercarne i motivi, iniziando un viaggio temporale che conduce a una misteriosa setta guidata dall’“Amico”, il cui fine è la distruzione del genere umano, da attuare entro il dicembre del 2000. Una storia affascinate e complessa, in cui Urasawa analizza gli ultimi anni di un millennio fitto di eventi.
